Make a Difference in a Child's Life Today
Future Pioneers want to make it possible for students in Nablus to attend the school regardless of their financial capability. The goal of our Sponsor a Student Program is to allow us to admit gifted, motivated students who happen to come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We want to open our doors to students from every background but quality education is expensive. We offer smaller class sizes, teachers trained in a variety of methods, international language instruction, and a learning environment unmatched in Palestine. Each student currently attending Pioneers Baccalaureate School costs the Society $2400* per year. Due to deteriorating economic conditions in Nablus, the Society subsidizes $1200 per child.
There are many families in Nablus that can't afford that and we are reaching out to the community so that people from all walks of life can benefit from our school. We don't want to see the school benefit only the wealthy. This program will benefit these students and also promote greater understanding across the different levels of our society. We are committed to building the best future for Palestine and to do that we need to be able to recruit children from all kinds of backgrounds.
*The school's long term plan calls for a 3-4 year period in which all students will be partially subsidized by the society. As we increase a grade level each year and the numbers of students grow, our cost per student will drop and the school will become self-sufficient.
Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund has been established to support the Sponsor-a-Student program. The selection committee ensures the funds are directed and channeled towards supporting the most deserving students. The committee will be responsible for evaluating the Scholarship Application, interviewing the applicant, and determining the most suitable candidate. The applicant is required to submit a statement of need including family condition, previous report cards to identify academic performance and behavioral conduct, and at least one letter of recommendation from a previous teacher.* This committee is composed of five members of which 3 are from the Future Pioneers Society and two from the School Administration. This fund will also grant part-scholarships to current students attending the school who have proved to be gifted academically and socially. The committee will determine the value of the partial scholarships.
How to Become a Sponsor Partner
Providing proper education to Palestine's youth is a long and challenging process. It requires the support of dedicated individuals who believe students in Palestine should be given the opportunity to get the best education regardless of their backgrounds. You may choose to sponsor a portion of one student's tuition or sponsor the full amount. Upon your request, you will have the option to contact the student you sponsored and follow up on his/her performance during the school year. To become a sponsor partner, please fill out the attached application. Payment instructions and contact details will be found on the application.
*This applies to students in the second grade or higher.
Selection Criteria
The number of scholarships offered for the upcoming 2008/2009 school year is limited; however the demand to be admitted into the school is very high. For this reason, the process for granting a scholarship is selective and will be based on a score system, whereby the students with the highest scores will be chosen. Previous report cards from other schools and at least one recommendation letter from a previous teacher will be requested. A personal interview will also be conducted with the student and a parent/guardian. The criteria and score assigned to each are listed in the table below:
