Summer School June 18- July 27th,2009
Pioneers School had its third successful annual summer school. This year we had 11 international teachers from several different English speaking countries. In addition to our Pioneers students we had over 100 students from other schools around Nablus. Every week the students participated and helped plan different camp wide parties and activities. We had movie day, football day, water fight day, scary day, High School Musical day, Harry Potter day, birthday day, and backwards day. One of our main events was school Olympics. Each class chose a country to represent and spent the week learning about that country. The countries chosen were: Holland, Argentina, Jamaica, Egypt, Italy, Germany, France, England, Spain, and Mexico. Students learned cheers and dressed up in the colors of their countries for the games.
Several classes also went on field trips. The first trip was to the Samaritan mountain. The two classes that were chosen to go won a week-long trash collecting competition. The two oldest classes also won the right to go on a field trip for their efforts to direct and develop several of the theme parties. The first group went to the newly opened movie theater and the other class went on a tour of the old city. One of the most popular classes was the music video class…. Students learned to sing several English songs and then would go to the music room to watch and sing along with the music videos.
We believe the summer camp was a great experience for everyone and we hope to see you all next year. |
