Mother's Day Party
On March 23, 2009 the Pioneers family gathered for our annual Mother's Day Show. As is our tradition, this year's spectacle was bigger, better, and more spectacular than last year.
The show was organized and presented by Mr. Ameed, Mr. Hatem, Ms. Lana, and the Kindergarten teachers.
Highlights of the show were:
Mr. Hatem's Debka show.
Our students demonstrated their expertise at this most Palestinian of all dances. The Pioneers dancers did us proud with their mastery of the intricate, bounds, whirls, and movements.
The Fashion Show
Organized by Ms. Isabel, this fashion show reflected the international orientation of our school. The exposition featured songs, fashion and dance from countries around the world. Scotland, Egypt, China and the United States all featured heavily.
The Mohammed Nabeena was sung by a large chorus of boys from first, second, third, and fourth grade.
Zain and Mr. Ameed performed the classic Palestinian song "My Hand in Your Hand." This triumph of Palestinian optimism brought home the multigenerational ennui we all feel. There may have been a dry eye when Zain finished but I didn't see one.
The Kindergarten students performed a delightful melody of songs in English and Arabic. As usual, Ms. Abeer's darling proteges charmed the crowd. Omar Hejawi presented game films from a recent Pioneers football match. That was followed up by a drum recital from the Pioneers drum corps. The drum corps performed solo and provided the rhythym for our our chorus' recital. |
